The flag was designed by Michael Page in 1988. It consists of three horizontal stripes: an upper pink stripe and a lower blue stripe, each of equal width, and a narrower purple stripe in the center of the flag.
The pink stripe symbolizes same-sex love, while the blue stripe represents love for someone of the opposite sex. The purple stripe represents love for a person, regardless of their gender.
