We at "PrideMerch.de – By Team Behinderte" were thrilled when our new Bi+ Pride wristbands finally arrived last Friday! But the wristbands weren't the only reason to celebrate. Even more important to us is the associated new collaboration withBi+ Hamburg eV.
When we launched " PrideMerch.de – By Team Behinderte " in 2022, the Bremerhaven Pride team, and shortly thereafter the Bremen Pride team, believed in our inclusive shop project. At the beginning of 2023, the Wesermarsch Pride team from Nordenham joined us and supported our unique rainbow inclusion project for queer people with disabilities.
After a long break, Bi+ Hamburg eV has given us new impetus and remotivated our team. We're very much looking forward to our future collaboration!
Rainbow Inclusion Online Shop? What is it?
It all began with a spontaneous idea from Thorsten Höller, the initiator of the Disabled Team in the Queer Cities network. When he flippantly remarked, "If the volunteers from Bremerhaven's Pride parade can't sell their Pride wristbands, I'll just send them away!" No one could have guessed that this would lead to the rainbow inclusion shop PrideMerch.de – By Disabled Team .
The idea and goal of PrideMerch.de – By Team Behinderte
Queer people with disabilities, who often work in sheltered workshops, rarely have the opportunity to gain a foothold in the rainbow sector. Almost all LGBTIQ* organizations operate in the counseling field, which often requires pedagogical training or a university degree. At the same time, volunteering in CSD or Pride organizations is often hampered by stressful workloads and heated debates, making it difficult for people with disabilities to get involved. Furthermore, converting team communication to plain language is a challenge for many organizations, and is usually abandoned after a short period of time.
This is where the Rainbow Inclusion Shop comes in. PrideMerch.de – By Team Behinderte offers queer people with disabilities an opportunity to be active outside of the Pride organizing teams. 10% of the sales of our partner products go directly to the cooperating Pride organizations, further promoting collaboration.
In our shop, we work at our own pace. If something goes wrong, we support each other. This way, we ensure that all orders are processed quickly and reliably, without stress.
